Starting to Exercise

These can slow down or even put a halt to your best intentions. Chiropractic can help you stay active, contact us to find out how.

Happy & Healthy New Year

Resolution time! As we embark on our new exercise programmes, aches, pains and injuries are one of the major barriers we encounter. Here are a few basic tips that may increase the chances of happily fulfilling a New Year resolution while reducing the likelihood of injury when starting an exercise programme:

  • Start exercising slowly and progress gradually
  • Exercise at an appropriate level, do not dive into physical activity without good preparation
  • Warm up, stretch and cool down
  • Stay hydrated
  • Wear the right gear such as properly fitted footwear, comfortable clothes and when necessary, protective equipment
  • Learn the correct techniques for your activity

Stop exercising immediately if you begin to experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Cold sweats
  • Muscle cramps
  • Pain or pressure in the chest
  • Joint pain

If you have any doubts, you should consult a health professional for advice.

Good luck and enjoy it!
